Pinal County plans to move Hunt Highway around GRIC

Pinal County plans to move a portion of Hunt Highway’s route so that it no longer crosses into the Gila River Indian Community from San Tan Valley.

The county initially wanted to widen the right of way and the road to five lanes on the part of Hunt Highway that crosses the reservation near Arizona Farms Road.

“Our preferred alignment was to work with the community and keep it where it’s at today,” said project manager Celeste Garza. “We didn’t want to go through the hassle of buying more land than necessary and relocating everything.”
