Florence seeks to intervene in Johnson Utilities case

Florence will seek the right to offer input on the Arizona Corporation Commission’s inquiries into Johnson Utilities.

The Florence Town Council has authorized the town manager and town attorney to file a “motion to intervene” in the case. Florence residents who live in Anthem at Merrill Ranch receive Johnson Utilities water and wastewater service.

The ACC recently held hearings in San Tan Valley to hear customer complaints about Johnson Utilities water, odor from the company’s wastewater plants and alleged improper billing practices. The commission also has been looking into allegations that owner George Johnson continues to manage the company while he faces charges of bribing former Commissioner Gary Pierce.
