FUSD board backs ASBA agenda for more funding, local control

The Florence school board endorsed the Arizona School Boards Association’s 2018 political agenda at its regular meeting Tuesday at San Tan Foothills High School.

Board Vice President Steve Johnson, who is also Pinal County director for the ASBA, said the organization’s agenda includes “adequately funding” public schools and upholding and strengthening local control. Johnson noted that Gov. Doug Ducey signed a law this month mandating two recess periods per day for grades K-5, which others believe should be a decision for individual districts.
