What was supposed to be a routine item before the Maricopa City Council generated discussion after one council member said there was contract confusion.
On Tuesday, the City Council was scheduled to approve an agreement for the Maricopa Family Advocacy Center. This topic was originally on the consent agenda — to be approved in one motion with other items — but Councilwoman Nancy Smith asked to pull the item for discussion.
The center is an all-encompassing facility that will allow victims of sex crimes, molestation and strangulation to obtain all the services they need under one roof. This includes forensic testing and interviews.
