Casa Grande council discusses raising fees

A discussion on changes to the city’s fee structure diverged into one on development impact fees, but the latter is not set to be acted on by the Casa Grande City Council for months.

During a work session Monday, council members heard an update on proposed changes to several categories of residential and commercial fees, including increases to several. Councilman Dick Powell said he wanted to get a better handle on the proposed development impact fees, which the city currently is studying, because “people are curious about it.”

The city is bound by statute, however, on the timing and implementation of the fees, with City Manager Larry Rains saying it wouldn’t be until early next year before the council finalized new fees on development.
