Casa Grande council says Greyhound can’t stay at Chevron

Voting against a Greyhound terminal is a zoning issue and not a business decision, council members said Monday.
The Casa Grande City Council voted 6-0 to deny a zone change to allow a Greyhound Bus terminal at a gas station on Trekell Road, where one is already located. Councilwoman Lisa Fitzgibbons recused herself, citing a conflict of interest. Fitzgibbons works for the law firm representing the owner of an adjacent strip mall, who opposed the Greyhound stop.
After hearing from both sides, council members said the issue was one of zoning and the owners of a Chevron station not following existing rules. All six council members said they’d hoped an agreement could have been reached on relocating the Greyhound prior to the issue blossoming.
