Challenger joins Thompson in Coolidge mayor race; 6 running for council

After running uncontested two years ago, Jon Thompson has a challenger for the Coolidge mayor position in the upcoming election.

Following Wednesday’s filing deadline to get on the local ballot, City Clerk Norma Ortiz revealed that Scott Koch joined Thompson in getting enough signatures to enter the race. The mayor serves a two-year term compared to four years for the rest of the City Council.

Koch has been involved in the dispute between the Military Honor Park and the Coolidge Performing Arts Center Foundation, saying he believed negotiations were held in bad faith by the foundation.
