CUSD asks CPAC Foundation to find another name

Among ongoing controversy surrounding the Coolidge Performing Arts Center Foundation, the organization that oversees the Artisan Village of Coolidge, the Coolidge Unified School District is requesting the foundation formally dissociate itself with the district by changing its name.

The shared sentiment voiced by several district officials was that CUSD has been on the receiving end of some public backlash regarding the actions taken by the foundation — with many members of the community questioning the school district’s involvement in the issue.

“This was precipitated — we don’t need to hide it— by the controversy that started (in) January between the Military Honor Park and the Artisan Village,” Superintendent Charie Wallace said at Wednesday’s governing board meeting.
