Florence town staff under scrutiny at council candidate forum

A resident attending a Town Council candidate forum Wednesday at Caliente Casa de Sol over-55 park asked the hopefuls what they most want to do in their terms.

“I’m going to be blunt,” candidate Gary Pranzo said. “There’s a person called the development services director. I want to see his backside going down the road,” he said to scattered applause. “The town manager,” Pranzo continued, “we renewed his contract and gave him a pay raise. … From where I sit, there’s nothing on the table to show me he deserved that contract and that pay raise. I’d like to see him gone as well.”

Vice Mayor Vallarie Woolridge, a 14-year council member now running for her fourth full term, said the town has accomplished a lot with its current town manager, Brent Billingsley.
