Man hopes to turn vacant lot into an organic, tropical community garden

Where some might see a dusty brown vacant lot, Daniel Oladokun-Dybowski sees a future tropical garden with fruit and nut trees, vegetables and people coming from all over to learn, share, grow and eat.
Oladokun-Dybowski, an anthropologist-turned-social worker who has long loved gardening, has begun work to transform a vacant lot between McMurray Boulevard and Laurel Drive, just east of Trekell Road, into a community garden.
“This community garden will be unlike most others,” he said. “A lot of community gardens don’t work out. I’ve seen them fall into disrepair or neglect.”
