Supervisor Goodman Sued for Trespass and Defamation Over Reporting on San Tan Valley Fire Hydrant Water Pressure Testing

Attorneys for Johnson Utilities, LLC filed a lawsuit today accusing Pinal County Supervisor Mike Goodman of illegally trespassing to access Johnson Utilities’ fire hydrants for, what he claimed was water pressure testing, and used the information to defame Johnson Utilities by falsely reporting to various media outlets that certain, unidentified hydrants failed these tests.

Mr. Goodman trespassed on Johnson Utilities property bringing an inspector from Rural/Metro Fire Department on July 2nd to test fire hydrant water pressures without the consent of the Company. Though the inspector said he was just going to “flush the hydrants”, Mr. Goodman then proceeded to release to the media unsubstantiated and unverified results from an alleged pressure test, despite an admonition from the Rural Metro inspector who accompanied Mr. Goodman that the tests were informal and uncorroborated.
