Town considers rules for wireless facilities

Residents are invited to attend an open house and provide comments on proposed changes to town code in response to a new state law pertaining to cellular antennae and small wireless facilities along public streets.

The open house is set for 5 to 6 p.m. July 12 at the Florence Library and Community Center, 778 N. Main St.

Residents in Santa Rosa, California, earlier this year protested Verizon’s plans to install 72 small cell antennae in neighborhoods. Residents expressed concerns about the health effects from radio frequency radiation and visuals of unsightly equipment on power poles.
