Wireless carriers obtain permits but don’t build in Florence

Wireless providers have received permits to install cellular antennae or small wireless facilities at five different locations in Florence, but to date, none has been built.

If Verizon or other providers ever follow through with their plans for such technologies, Florence intends to be ready with codes, fees and terms and conditions that comply with state law, according to town staff.

Staff held an open house July 12 on Florence’s upcoming code changes. The Planning and Zoning Commission will hear a presentation this Thursday, and the Town Council may approve the updates next month. All Arizona cities, towns and counties are required to update their codes to conform to House Bill 2365, planning consultant Dana Burkhardt said.
