Work continues on two stretches of interstate between Casa Grande and Tucson, and state transportation officials say the projects are on schedule.
A 4-mile stretch between Earley Road and the Interstate 8 junction has crews working primarily on the new bridge that will be over Jimmie Kerr Boulevard. Tom Herrmann, a spokesman with the Arizona Department of Transportation, said the piers for the bridge are in place and work on the top of the bridge will commence soon.
Once the bridge is complete, Herrmann said, work to build up the median, which will contain the new third lane, will begin.
