Area legislative contests
PinalCentral
Candidate interest in some area legislative seats, mainly the ones being vacated this year, is high for next month’s primary. Others have no primary race. All of the District 8 candidates participated in a forum sponsored by the Casa Grande Dispatch and PinalCentral on July 19.
In District 8, which includes most of Casa Grande and part of Eloy along with Coolidge, Florence and part of San Tan Valley, Republican Sen. Frank Pratt of Casa Grande is unopposed. He is a small business owner and has been a consistent voice for agriculture, business, rural interests and good state government.
The Democratic candidates are Natali Fierros Bock of San Tan Valley, a former teacher, and Sharon Girard of Eloy, a retired physician assistant.
