Ducey declares state of emergency in Mammoth following destructive storms

Following intense storms that have hit the town particularly hard, Gov. Doug Ducey declared a state of emergency in Mammoth.

The Governor’s Office announced that $200,000 would be directed to the small eastern Pinal County town “to aid in immediate emergency protective measures and permanent repairs to protect residents” after an apparent collapse in the local potable water system.

About 3 inches of rain were dumped on the town July 26-29, causing severe infrastructure problems, with extensive damage to roadways and the loss of usable, accessible water for area residents, including drinking water.
