Florence Copper Disputes Town’s Latest Comments

The Town of Florence distributed a press release earlier this week, written by Assistant Town Manager, Benjamin Bitter. In the release, the Town claims that “Florence Copper has sought to obtain permits that would allow for the direct injection of harmful chemicals into the groundwater, on State land within the geographical center of the Town of Florence, and directly into the drinking water supply.

The Florence Town Council took the unusual step of issuing a news release in an attempt to justify the spending of “$311,000 each year since 2013” in legal fees and costs to oppose the Florence Copper Project, now a fully permitted copper production test facility that has created up to 80 jobs and invested $28 million in the region so far.
