Lucid could get $8M in local tax incentives

The city and county may offer $8.2 million in incentives to the developers of an electric-car manufacturing plant, according to the terms of a proposed development agreement discussed Thursday among public officials.

After announcing last month it had financial support from the Saudi Arabian monarchy, Lucid Motors is moving ahead with trying to build a plant in Casa Grande.

If the city and county approve a development agreement soon, Lucid officials claim they can start building a plant next spring and start rolling out cars by the end of 2020.
