Residents oppose group home in Coolidge neighborhood

A potential group home proposed for a residential subdivision in Coolidge got a thumbs down from a planning panel after receiving some backlash from area residents.
The city’s Planning and Zoning Commission at its Oct. 10 meeting denied a conditional use permit application for a group home proposed for the Landmark Ranch Subdivision in a 3-2 vote.
The group home, as put forth by Kewala Corporation, would accommodate three patients and one caretaker. Kewala Corporation is a behavioral therapy residential service provider that specializes in assisted living for adults and operates a similar facility in Florence.
