City loses appeal to prevent skydiving at Casa Grande airport

The city has lost another round in the battle over skydiving at the airport.

In a decision dated Nov. 15, the Federal Aviation Administration upheld a previous order that compels the city to allow a skydiving company to operate out of the Casa Grande Municipal Airport, which is operated by the city of Casa Grande. The company, Phoenix Area Skydiving, has sought since 2013 to be able to establish a drop zone on the airport property.

Last year, the FAA ruled the city was in violation of several federal mandates pertaining to grants that the airport has received, including saying the city’s decision to disallow skydiving involves “economic discrimination.”
