Boyce Thompson Arboretum is a museum of sorts to the desert’s diverse and aesthetically thrilling wildlife. Walk around the grounds just outside Superior and you’ll be surrounded by little pieces of nature you have never seen before.
So why, if everyone can walk around the real things just feet away, would the arboretum feature a gallery on site with photos of desert plants? Well, there are still plenty of awe-inspiring sights hiding everywhere, only visible to a well-trained and focused eye — and to a great camera lens of course.
The gallery features the photography of Florence resident Eirini Pajak, who is known for her regular contributions to Arizona Highways Magazine, including her first cover photo that was published in October’s issue. Her work for the magazine takes her far from the well-trodden roads to discover stories and sights around the state, uncovering untold stories through her lens instead of a pen.
