Pinal officials deny pot dispensary but change zoning

Pinal County supervisors split in rejecting a medical marijuana dispensary for San Tan Valley but approved a variety of other future uses for the site.

On Wednesday, the Board of Supervisors denied the medical marijuana shop after hearing from the applicant and residents. Supervisor Mike Goodman, R-San Tan Valley, who represents the area, said that while he wasn’t necessarily opposed to the project, he didn’t feel the location was ideal.

The owner and applicant, Blake McKee, wanted to build the dispensary on a portion of a 3.6-acre lot on Hunt Highway west of Valley View Road. The remainder of the parcel would be used for a variety of other potential future uses, such as a car wash and assorted retail.
