Townhomes included in proposed San Tan Valley project

More housing diversity for San Tan Valley has been approved by Pinal County planners.

On Thursday the county Planning and Zoning Commission recommended a zone change in the Bella Camino planned area development to allow for a multifamily residential component and additional commercial uses. The 81-acre site is to feature a mix of commercial and both single-family detached and multifamily housing.

The multifamily section would be an all-rental unit that primarily is geared toward young adults who want the “benefits of home ownership without the responsibilities,” said Paul Gilbert, who was applying for the zone change. He said he’s worked on a dozen similar developments in the Phoenix-metro area.
