A Pinal County lawmaker has introduced legislation to prevent county supervisors from refusing federal grants that fund law enforcement operations.
State Rep. Mark Finchem, R-Oro Valley, has written a bill that targets Pima County’s recent decision to refuse federal funds that pay for local police departments to assist in protecting the U.S.-Mexico border.
The Pima County Board of Supervisors voted 3-1 this year to terminate its involvement in the program, known as Operation Stonegarden.
