Arizona’s ties to Mexico run deep—this connection is part of our history, and increasingly a part of our future. Arizona has long enjoyed a special relationship with Mexico and our sister state across the border, Sonora. We are more than neighbors. We are partners, and strong collaboration between us brings enhanced benefits for both.
That’s why when I took office four years ago, we made growing Arizona’s relationship with Mexico a top priority. The first thing we did? Introduce ourselves.
Shortly after taking office, we led a delegation of business and community leaders to meet with our counterparts in Mexico City—the first governor-led delegation to the Mexican Capitol in nearly a decade. Our message was simple and direct: Arizona is open for business.
