Skydiving provider is happy about Casa Grande airport ruling

The owner of a skydiving company who has tried for years to establish a landing zone on the city’s airport property said he’s happy about the most recent ruling in his favor.

“I am happy to hear the FAA continue to state what we have been saying at Phoenix Area Skydiving all along, that skydiving can be safely accommodated at the Casa Grande airport,” Luther Kurtz, owner of Phoenix Area Skydiving, told PinalCentral.

Kurtz’s company has sought to establish the landing zone at the airport for more than four years. The city, citing safety concerns, denied his application. Kurtz appealed to the Federal Aviation Administration, which issued three rulings on the case: one informal review and twice with formal administrative decisions.
