Business owners hope to spread commerce around Maricopa

When a small town starts bringing in businesses, a sort of main street is developed, whether it’s actually called Main Street or not. This becomes the main attraction for opening storefronts trying to catch the eye of the most amount of traffic.

Maricopa was no different, with John Wayne Parkway becoming businesses’ destination of choice, and for good reason. As a part of State Route 347, the road is the only way to get in and out of the city directly from the Valley, meaning most people coming to and from Maricopa have to use it.

But this is no longer a small town, and in fact Maricopa officials have aspirations to become a large city with the potential for hundreds of thousands of people. It’s unlikely that commerce can be so concentrated in just a few blocks of a single road for much longer.
