Casa Grande model home approved; owl, street name discussed

Discussions of relocating owls and changing street names accompanied the approval of a model home for a Casa Grande subdivision Thursday night.

At the Casa Grande Planning and Zoning Commission meeting, commissioners approved a conditional use permit for one single-story home to serve as a model and sales office for Starlight Homes by Ashton Woods, the company that plans to build homes in the Mission Royale Family Section.

However, a neighbor who said she walks the trails and streets near the area said a burrowing owl is known to be living in the lot across the street from the planned model home. She said she had personally begun to make arrangements to have the owl “rehomed” but said the process takes up to 90 days.
