The Parks & Recreation and Planning & Zoning Commissions will meet in a joint session on Tuesday, January 8 at 6 p.m. At the meeting, there will be a presentation, discussion, public hearing and consideration of the proposed Active Transportation Plan.

Dean Chambers of J2 Engineering and Environmental Design, along with city staff, will present the final plan.

According to the plan: “The city of Apache Junction Active Transportation Plan is the first active transportation plan developed by the city. The plan will serve as the primary tool for deployment and integration of connected, comfortable facilities for bicyclists, pedestrians, equestrians and other non-motorized modes within Apache Junction. As the region continues to grow and new development comes to the city, it is important to have a clear vision for a transportation network that meets the needs of all users.”
