Florence council approves water rate hike

Average Florence water users should notice an increase of $4 or so on their May bills as part of planned rate increases approved by the Town Council last year.

Following a water and wastewater rate study, the council approved its first water rate increase in four years last year, with regular annual increases to follow through 2022. Florence Finance Director Joe Jarvis reminded the council of the scheduled rate hikes Monday and asked it to confirm the new increase with a resolution.

The resolution passed 5-1, with Councilwoman Michelle Cordes voting no. Councilwoman Karen Wall was absent.
