A majority of Maricopa residents surveyed want more transit service to other communities, with some wanting a route to and from Casa Grande.

Amy Moran, senior project manager with Wilson & Company, an engineering and architecture company based in Phoenix, told the Maricopa City Council Tuesday that her company sent out 473 responses for a transit demand study in which it found 11 percent use the current transit system while 60 percent said they believe more transit is needed. She added that 40 percent said there is a need for service to new areas, while 35 percent said there is a need for additional stops and an increase in the frequency of the services.

According to Moran’s presentation to council members, 41 respondents wanted an increase in service to Chandler, while 37 said they wanted an increase in service to Phoenix and 23 wanted more service to Casa Grande.
