Supervisors OK south Pinal winery despite cross-county objections

A future winery and event center on the Pinal-Pima county line drew objections from approximately 15 neighbors on the Pima side, who predicted their rural lifestyle would be disrupted by reckless drivers, crime, noise and other problems.

But the Pinal County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Wednesday to approve both a rezoning and a planned area development overlay for Golder Estate Vineyard, west of Justin Lane and north of Edwin Road near Saddlebrooke.

Due to the amount of opposition the county received — 28 letters against the project, compared to only five in favor — the measures needed at least four “yes” votes to pass.
