Pinal County budgets almost $1M for economic development

A Union Pacific train rolling through Maricopa in Pinal County, which is a huge asset and can be attributed to part of the economic development success.

Pinal County’s economic development budget in the new fiscal year will be almost $1 million, including $325,466 in new funding, among other new county budget requests which the Board of Supervisors approved on Wednesday.

A study for developing a “high-tech corridor” between Arizona State University and the University of Arizona was moved out of Economic Development Manager Tim Kanavel’s budget to Planning and Development.

“It’s going to be done, it’s just going to be done by a different department,” Kanavel said.
