The new fire administration building for the city of Maricopa is now a step closer to becoming a reality.
Staff of the Maricopa Fire and Medical Department, construction crews, volunteers, city council members and the Maricopa Police Department celebrated the groundbreaking of the new fire admin building on Thursday morning. It took place on 45695 W. Edison Rd., behind Station 575 and across from the trailer building which the department has been using as a temporary admin building since the construction of the overpass.
The project has been in the works for nearly six years. Finding funding for the building created a temporary halt to the project, according to Fire Chief Brady Leffler. The project moved quickly after taking the necessary measures and acquiring funding, which sped up the process approximately a year ago.
