County workforce is educated, survey says

High percentages of respondents throughout Pinal County reported they had at least some college, vocational or technical education or a college degree, according to the county’s latest workforce skills survey, although the response rate was light.

Nearly all respondents in Apache Junction/Gold Canyon, 98%, claimed at least some higher education, and percentages in the county’s other regions were almost as high — 93% in Casa Grande and the Copper Corridor in eastern Pinal County; 92% in Maricopa and San Tan Valley; and 91% in Florence/Coolidge.

In 2016 the Lumina Foundation reported that 26% of the state’s population between 21 and 64 had some college education. The national average was 21%, which seems to cast some doubt on the recent survey.
