Supporters are hoping to convince the state to resume plans for a Gold Canyon bypass to relieve congestion on U.S. 60./Submitted

Community leaders are gathering signatures on a petition to encourage the Arizona Department of Transportation to follow through on plans for a Gold Canyon bypass to relieve traffic on U.S. 60.

Interested people don’t have to be Gold Canyon residents, nor do they have to go to Gold Canyon, to sign the petition.

Anyone who drives the highway may send an email to [email protected], giving the person’s name, address and stating he supports the bypass, according to Glenn Walp, president of the Association for the Development of a Better Environment.
