Council rejects contribution to EESD, approves street improvements

Last month the Eloy Elementary School District approved 11 students from Eloy Junior High School attending a Leadership Experience and Development Conference in Chicago.

On Monday night, the students from the National Junior Honor Society and student council along with their advisers came before the Eloy City Council looking for a $2,500 contribution to help fund the trip.

Council member Andrew Rodriguez asked to have their request pulled from the consent agenda to discuss whether or not it would fall under the gift clause, which states that if the city gives credit or a donation to an organization and it does not benefit the community or the city, it can be considered a gift.
