Florence seeks to protect essential staff through separation

Essential positions on town staff have been divided into two shifts that rotate weekly.

“We don’t want the opportunity for everyone to be infected at one time,” Town Manager Brent Billingsley told the Town Council on Monday. “If one shift or a part of one shift is exposed, the second shift is not exposed, to make sure we can provide our essential services to the public.”

Employees receive a health screening outside each town office building at 8 a.m. every weekday. If an employee has a temperature over 100 degrees or other symptoms of being sick, he or she is sent home and asked to seek medical attention.
