Pinal gets additional $1 million in CDBG funds

County Manager Louis Andersen reported Wednesday that Pinal County will receive an additional $1 million in federal Community Development Block Grant funding and is awaiting the rules on how it can be spent.

Andersen gave his report to the Board of Supervisors. Board Chairman Anthony Smith, R-Maricopa, asked if it will be distributed according to CDBG plans that the board recently approved.

Andersen replied that’s a good question, but another thing to consider is what the needs are. “We’ve received several calls on homelessness in various cities.” He said county staff would like to determine what the real needs are from COVID-19, especially for those with very low incomes, “and then present something to the board.”
