Superior gets funding for rehab projects

The Pinal County town of Superior and others in Gila County will receive government funding for rehabilitation projects related to environmental damage left over from their mining pasts.
The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality has awarded more than $360,000 this fiscal year to support rural towns, cities and organizations in repurposing and restoring blighted properties.
The Brownfields Assistance Program funds are used to conduct environmental assessments, cleanup and restoration to reduce environmental hazards, mitigate public health threats, create new business opportunities, increase tax revenue and restore blighted properties to productive use.
