Casa Grande council set to adopt tentative budget as full impact of pandemic still not known
With data on the full impact of COVID-19 on the city’s revenues still coming in, the Casa Grande City Council will consider adopting a $204,808,497 tentative 2021 fiscal year budget and setting a public hearing for approval of the final budget and tax rates at Monday’s meeting.
At a budget meeting in May, City Manager Larry Rains proposed that the city focus on maintaining the city’s current level of services and expenses while more information on how COVID-19 would impact the state and local sales tax revenues starts to trickle in.
State and local sales taxes account for about 85% of the city’s general fund revenues, with the remainder made up by property taxes and local fees.
