Residents to be Recognized for Random Acts of Kindness
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic the City has been amazed by tremendous stories of random acts of kindness: neighbors going out of their way to take care of each other. Churches, businesses, non-profits innovating and sacrificing to help out those in need. Thanks to a generous donation from the personal monies of Mr. Trevor Milton, Founder and Executive Director of Nikola Motor Company, these random acts of kindness will be recognized in a way that also supports our local community owned restaurants.
“We are so very thankful for Mr. Milton for selecting our community as one to so generously invest in,” said Mayor Christian Price. “This donation is structured to help businesses, residents and recognize the tight knit community that makes all of us so thankful to live in the City of Maricopa.”
How it works:
Share your Random Acts of Kindness stories at RAK@maricopa-az.gov. Stories of any size are encouraged! Whether it was helping a neighbor lift a heavy box or picking up groceries for someone in need. Stories may be shared by the recipient or the contributor in one hundred words or less. We’d love a picture to go along with the story too.
Story contributors will be randomly selected to receive a gift card to a local restaurant. The submission period will be continuously open until all of Mr. Milton’s donated gift cards have been distributed. Selected stories will be featured on our social media pages. No more than one gift card will be awarded to any single individual throughout the course of the program.
Donation Details:
The total generous donation from Mr. Milton is $30,000: $10,000 will go to the Maricopa Random Acts of Kindness program recognizing residents and supporting local businesses, $10,000 will go to our local food bank to help those in need, and $10,000 will be given to the Maricopa Community Foundation.
The Maricopa Community Foundation serves Maricopa by supporting quality of life enhancing initiatives, programs, events, and non-profit services within our community by developing resources for local organizations.
