Ruins superintendent gives update on monument reopening amid pandemic

Visitation at the Casa Grande Ruins National Monument since the park’s reopening in June has been on par with traditional levels of summer visitation despite the ongoing pandemic.

That was what Ruins Superintendent Ben Littlefield reported to City Council members Monday evening. Littlefield gave the update as part of a monthly presentation given by the Coolidge Chamber of Commerce.

In March, the Ruins closed to the public amid early efforts to stem the spread of the novel coronavirus. It reopened for public access on June 1.
