Johnson Utilities effluent would be passed through town with interconnection agreement

The town of Queen Creek has agreed to connect its wastewater system with an East Valley utility that may get a new owner after years of struggle.

The Queen Creek Town Council voted unanimously Oct. 7 to approve a motion with three items: the material terms for a wastewater system interconnection agreement between the town and Johnson Utilities LLC through its interim manager, EPCOR Water Arizona Inc., for the Pecan Water Reclamation Facility; delegating authority to the town’s manager and attorney to negotiate, finalize and execute an agreement; and authorizing town staff to negotiate with EPCOR for a wastewater interconnection agreement in relation to the Section 11 Wastewater Treatment Plant.

No town funds would be used if 1 million gallons per day of wastewater that would have been processed by Johnson Utilities is diverted to flow through Queen Creek to Gilbert to be treated in a planned interconnection agreement.
