Prop 208 – hear both sides then vote
Join us virtually for our October breakfast as we hear from both sides of Proposition 208, which will be on your November 3 ballot. Prop 208 would increase income tax to those making $250,000 a year (or $500,000 jointly) and would distribute the revenue to teachers and education programs. PANEL:
VOTE YES on 208 – David Lujan, Arizona Center for Economic Progress
No on Prop 208 – Sean McCarthy, Arizona Tax Research Assoc.
Moderated by Jordan Rose, Rose Law Group
According to the VOTE YES on 208 website, a yes vote restores hundreds of millions of dollars annually in K-12 education funding to solve the teacher-shortage crisis, lower class sizes, hire aides and counselors, and expand career and technical education as well as ensures accountability on where the dollars are spent. According to the No on Prop 208 website, passage of Prop 208 will devastate small businesses who will be subject to higher taxes than large corporations at an economically vulnerable time. There is no accountability for heavily weighted administrative spending and no guarantees on money for teachers. Prop 208 will greatly diminish the attractiveness of doing business in Arizona.
