Apache Junction Seeks Housing Rehabilitation Funding – Homeowners Wanted

[NEWS RELEASE] The city of Apache Junction applies for and receives federal funds through the Arizona State Department of Housing for the owner-occupied housing rehabilitation program. The program provides deferred payment loans of $1,000 to $55,000 for heating, air conditioning, plumbing, roofs, code violations, and ADA accessibility as well as other health and safety issues. These loans can be “forgivable” loans. If the owner remains in the home for a specified period of time, no repayment or interest is due.

Eligible applicants must be owner-occupied homeowners who:

  • Own their home and property for a minimum of 1 year;
  • Reside within the city limits as a full time resident;
  • Are at least 62 years old OR have a disability OR have children under the age of 18 living in the home; and
  • Are low income (qualified at or below 80% of the area median household income).

Applications are available:

  • On-line at www.ajcity.net/rehab;
  • For pick-up at the Development Services Department, 300 E. Superstition Blvd.; or
  • By mail. Call (480) 474-2635 to request a copy.
