First Maricopa Animal Control officer ready to help the city’s pets

The city of Maricopa’s continued growth has meant the need for expansion in many regards. A new, bigger library, a new lane added to the Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway and now the city has hired its first dedicated animal control officer.

Maricopa resident Luke Ziccardi had been with Pinal County Animal Control for five years when he got the call to come on board for Maricopa.

“I’m really kind of honored that the city chose me to be their first animal control officer,” Ziccardi said. “The city is all about taking care of its citizens, the citizens of Maricopa, and one of my goals is really to carry on that mission with animal control, because I do consider myself a public servant.”
