As housing booms in CG, wildlife advocate says don’t forget the burrowing owls

As the Planning and Zoning Commission met Thursday evening to discuss and approve different housing projects, Valerie Motyka, a volunteer with Arizona Wildlife Support, advocated for burrowing owls. 

During the meeting, the commission approved a conditional use permit and associated resolution for Richmond American Homes’ model home complex within Cottonwood Ranch with several conditions. 

Motyka encouraged developers to follow proper regulations when finding burrowing owls at construction sites.
