A conceptual plan for the look of the proposed 96-lot Ironwood Station gated residential subdivision near the southeast corner of Ironwood Drive and Superstition Boulevard./City of Apache Junction

Two-story townhomes with two-car garages are to be constructed in an Ironwood Station gated subdivision near the southeast corner of Ironwood Drive and Superstition Boulevard.

Rezoning 7 acres — and a concurrent preliminary plat for the 96-lot residential subdivision — were approved Jan. 12 in separate unanimous votes by the Apache Junction Planning and Zoning Commission. The property is zoned general commercial medium density single-family detached residential and is to be changed to high-density multiple-family residential by planned development.

The rezoning and preliminary plat are to be discussed by the City Council Feb. 2. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. and will be held in the council chambers, 300 E. Superstition Blvd.
