Two parcels in Apache Junction zoned for business park or commercial uses can instead be developed as multifamily residential townhomes, the City Council decided recently.
Both were discussed and voted on during a Feb. 2 meeting, with neither receiving unanimous support and one garnering a lukewarm reception and a split vote.

The council voted 4-3 with Vice Mayor Christa Rizzi and Councilors Robert Schroeder and Kelly Gremmel dissenting to approve a 96-lot residential subdivision, tentatively named Ironwood Station, near the southeast corner of Ironwood Drive and Superstition Boulevard.
